Majesty 140 superyacht wins Best of Show award at Fort Lauderdale show

Winning design: The Majesty 140 won the Best of Show award at Fort Lauderdale.

The Majesty 140 superyacht, all 43m of her, has won the Best of Show award at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this year.

First-time exhibitor Majesty Yachts, based in Dubai, exhibited a number of yachts from its fleet, which ranges from the 47.60m Majesty 155 superyacht to the 15m Majesty 48. The winning Majesty 140, designed by Gulf Craft’s Design Studio, is powered by two 2,600hp engines. Read more details in the box below.

The Best of Show award is given to innovative new boat models that encompass a variety of elements, including performance, design, technology and architecture.

‘Biggest in-water boat show’

Andrew Doole, president of Informa Markets US Boat Shows, which organised the event, said: “We are thrilled to have Majesty Yachts, a first-time exhibitor from Dubai, take home the trophy for their impeccable Majesty 140 and hope guests enjoy her beauty while visiting FLIBS [Florida International Boat Show].”

The Majesty 140 winner was chosen by a panel of independent judges. The judges were: Ryan Hunter-Reay, American race car driver; Jason Wenig, owner of The Creative Workshop; Francoise Bezzola, global chief marketing officer for Ulysse Nardin; and Ralph Choeff, principal at Choeff Levy Fischman.

“Every year, our international portfolio expands, reeling in new countries into the show,” said Doole. Modelled on NBC Sports’ North American International Auto Show Special, FLIBS and the Best of Show Awards will be feature in a programme dedicated to the latest vessels, innovative design, and performance reviews, due for broadcast on the NBC Sports Network on December 15.

Sold during the show for $9.9m

Meanwhile, one of the winner’s sister yachts, Majesty 100 – making her debut at the Florida event – sold during the show for $9.9m.

Also featured at the event was the novel Mansion Yacht. Claimed to be the world’s first stainless-steel superyacht, the vessel boasts an area of 836sq metres and has four hydraulic legs  which enable it to stand up to a height of 4.4m.

The five-day event attracts about 110,000 attendees and 1,200 exhibitors representing 52 countries. This year’s event, featuring a Superyacht Village, celebrated the show’s 60th birthday and included more than 1,500 boats.
