Pendennis re-launches Malahne after 30 month refit

Falmouth-based shipyard Pendennis have announced the re-launch of 50 metre Malahne after a 30 month restoration.

Malahne was designed by Charles E Nicholson and built by Camper & Nicholson in 1937, making her one of the very few pre-war yachts to have survived until the 21st century.

The vessel was modernised in her refit in order to be fully classed by Lloyd’s Register and compliant with the MCA Large Yacht Code (LY2). Her extensive refit took 30 months.

“Over the past two and half years the team here has worked incredibly hard to bring Malahne to life again” said Mike Carr, Managing Director of Pendennis. “Seeing the final transformation from her 1980s form back to her original design, her launch marks a proud moment for everyone involved. Malahne will always have a very special place in the Pendennis fleet.”

Once she departs from the Falmouth shipyard she will return to the Mediterranean.

Pendennis are also refitting Lurssen’s 75.6 metre Northern Star and Claasen Jachtbouw’s 43.4 metre Lionheart. Both vessels will be delivered in May 2015.

Malahne is now available for charter through Edmiston.
