World’s first hybrid superyacht

Feadship has launched the world’s first hybrid superyacht. 83.5 metre Savannah features an eco-friendly blend of single diesel engine, three gensets, batteries, propeller, azimuting thruster and a streamlined hull shape.

Savannah was inspired by the 2010 Feadship Future Concept Breathe. It showcases a cost-effective and cleaner mode of propulsion by using one efficient medium-speed Wärtsilä main engine instead of two higher-rev diesel motors.

“Savannah is a yacht full of premiers,” said Feadship director Henrik de Vries. “The result is fuel savings of some thirty per cent compared to the best boats that we have launched to date”

Savannah is due to be delivered in July 2015. According to YachtCharterFleet the vessel will meet her owner in Norway.
