Finnish sailing yacht builder, Nautor’s Swan has sold the first 26.5m Swan 88, which is the yard’s debut yacht with hybrid electric-propulsion. The 88 was launched last December as Nautor’s Swan chief executive, Giovanni Pomati announced the company was venturing into the 24m plus segment — under the brand line “MaxiSwan”.

The yacht has been designed by Nautor’s longtime designer, German Frers. “The new model is an evolution of the previous models, but for this one we’ve done a complete study for the balance, the performance, the position of the rig and the shape of the sails,” he said at the Swan 88’s launch. “According to the results of these studies, we designed the hull.”

An evolution of the builder’s previous models including the Swan 98, the vessel includes some extra features such as a newly developed coachroof design to bring together the sprayhood and bimini. Also, the 88’s winches and steering wheels are centrally located in the cockpit, allowing for a beach area at the stern, with full access to the water and a tender garage.

With room for customisation, the yacht will accommodate up-to 10 guests across a master stateroom and four additional guest staterooms. Also there is room for four crew members.

Described as a “dual soul of racer and cruiser”, the first Swan 88 is due for delivery in 2023.
