Marina Port Vell, Barcelona has agreed a partnership with the America’s Cup organisers to become the tournament’s preferred marina for superyachts. The regatta will be held in August and October 2024.

Marina Port Vell (pictured), Barcelona said that the agreement reinforces the international reputation of Barcelona as a hub for superyachts in the region.

Grant Dalton, CEO, America’s Cup said: “From the start of our discussions with Barcelona and Catalunya as the potential host venue for the America’s Cup event, we have been very impressed by the extent and quality of marinas, ports and facilities that can be offered to visiting yachts.”

Booking of berths will be managed by BWA Yachting. The firm said there has been more than 40 requests for mooring so far.

Held every four years, the sailing race event was first contested in 1851, predating the modern Olympic Games by 45 years. The US held a 132-winning streak at the event, before being beaten by Australia in 1983.
