A yacht burst into flames earlier today whilst docked at Hamilton Island Marina in Queensland, Australia. The yacht has been completely destroyed, with other yachts and the marina also suffering fire damage.

The 25m (82ft) Sunseeker vessel currently remains smouldering in the marina, with authorities working to prevent it from sinking and to minimise further damage to the marina and the local environment. Hamilton Island Marina is popular among yachters exploring the Great Barrier Reef.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) crews were called to the marina at about 10:45am earlier today (October 24th).

According to a QFES spokesperson, firefighters arrived at the scene at 10:55am and fought for over two hours to contain the blaze.

No one was on board at the time the fire broke out, however paramedics have treated at least two people for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
